Beach Lovers:
Some of the finest beaches to be found in the whole of France are little more than 30 minutes drive away. Take the 175 west, the first exit takes you on the coast road to St. Malo. Within minutes you are driving along the Brittany coast-line where pretty beaches abound, culminating in the beautiful village and beach of Cancale.
If you prefer the spectacular landscape of Normandy then the beaches to the north and south of Granville must not be missed. Jullouville to the south and Carteret way up north are the stars but the coast-line in between is littered with many jewels.
D-Day Beaches:
The Normandy Beaches to the east of the Cherbourg peninsula are a must for the historians and those with an interest in World War Two. The American forces D-Day Landings took place here with famous names: Ste. Mere Eglise, Omaha, Utah and Gold, a little over an hour of driving time will get you to these locations. A further half an hour travelling east will get you to the D-Day Landings of the British and Canadian Armed Forces.
