Things to do while you stay with us.
As previously mentioned the tiny hamlet of Les Chaliers lies in Basse Normandy just 6 miles from the coast, 4 miles from the border with Brittany. This is rural France in its raw state. The local 'apple brandy', Calvados, is produced in Bree, just 1 kilometre away, certainly within staggering distance!
The local town of Pontorson has its own wine warehouse, not on the tourist route, offering dozens of different wines including Vin de Pays in bulk! To experience the true flavour of France a visit to a 'Vide Grenier' (empty attic) is a must. From Easter to October there is one to be found somewhere within driving distance each Sunday. These are full of antiques, bric-a-brac, artifacts and many other items, new and old. This is a great chance to practise your French and have fun!
